The reference in Quebec
Priim@, is the reference in Quebec as regards exam preparation for (OIIQ) exam l’Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec (OIIQ) (ONQ- Order of Nurses of Quebec).
In 2013, the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi (UQAC), the Cégep de Chicoutimi and the Cégep de Jonquière made it their mission to fulfill one of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education’s request: Improving the actual success rate of the OIIQ exam.
Online training for graduates
In order to do so, these educational institutions worked hand in hand on creating an innovative online training project directly geared to graduates of the college diploma in Nursing (DEC) and graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (undergraduate degree).
Even though the platform made a start in 2014, it was adapted and evolved in accordance with the OIIQ, health care sector and college and university-level nursing programs.
An online platform that meets of the new requirements
Formerly, in order to be admitted to the professional order, the OIIQ required that college and university graduates succeed a practical exam.
Afterwards, they rather opted for a theoretical exam comprised of short answers.
Recently, the OIIQ reviewed its procedures and decided to propose a multiple choice exam. WIth this thinking in mind, the Priim@ online platform meets the needs of this new requirement.
A bilingual program
The platform underwent several updates since its inception including a major one in 2019. As well, a growing demand on behalf of English-speaking graduates prompted partner schools in this project to provide an English version of the platform. This objective was reached in January 2020.
The Priim@ platform is available, as of now, 24 hours a day 7 days a week, throughout Quebec in both French and English.
